Falling Green Leaves
Su Yun

Only I in crowds bow to see you there
Only I no longer look up for flair
I too part from some in rain’s domain
Walking alone through worldly seams
Testing the strength that holds my dreams
There
We need not bow to proceed
To gather grains others leave
Pile them behind mockers’ backs with care
Until we become shadows that bind
Restricting where we’re inclined
In rainy days
The trapped walk with such ease
Rushing toward a wingless bird
Falling forgotten in scorners’ shadows
Plucking one green leaf to seal
The final tears we feel

The Street Sweepers
By Lei Yuhan (Xiaohe Poetry Club, 11 years old)

Before the sky lightens
You grip the broom already
On the roads
Beneath the tall buildings
Waving the broom
The only sound in the silent world
Troubles of reality disrupt your lives
Yet you help us with your own time
Thank you
For bringing us a beautiful life

Evening
By Bai Ziwei (11 years old)

In the quiet evening
The wind blows gently
Adults hold palm-leaf fans
Enjoying the beautiful moments to the fullest

Wounds
By Bai Ziwei (10 years old)

My past days once gone
My life now here along
My future yet to dawn
How many tears have streamed down
How many wounds still scar my town

So – rry.
There’s good and there’s bad

Parents
By Bai Ziwei (10 years old)

Parents are sturdy shields
Blocking countless wounds for you.
Parents are tall trees standing still
Sheltering you from wind and rain.
Parents are a clear spring’s rill
Quenching your thirst again and again.
