Melita Ratković: “I write automatically, I think that happens to most poets…”

Please share your thoughts about the pandemic and the future of literature… after covid. Honestly, I thought that the pandemic was just an empty story, unfortunately I claim that it is not. I lost some of my very close friends, I don’t know if I’m right or not, my choice is the vaccine. As for literature, books are not expensive, good human population, they don’t have the habit of reading, they don’t read a single book a year. Such parents cannot be expected to teach their children the culture of reading, children encounter books through compulsory school reading, of course that is not enough. I don’t see a bright future for literature, I wish I wasn’t real.

The Good and the Bad. Who wins today? Unfortunately, everything comes down to money, material values, everything else takes a back seat. The question is what is good and what is bad. On the spiritual plane, in whom I believe, good always wins, if we often do not wait for it. I wouldn’t dare to say that the “bad guys” win, but I learned to live with “injustice”, I can’t change the world, but I can change myself. If you tried to fix yourself, it would be reflected on a collective level, thoughts are energy, which we have to be serious about By working on ourselves, self-discipline, good thoughts, we build a better world.

Tell us where inspiration is coming from for you? From the environment I live in, real events, I don’t know, I write automatically, I think that happens to most poets throughout their lives and they know perfectly well what I mean.

Are the people reading books or not? People who read books are rare. I mean those
who read carefully, from the first page to the last. They are more prone to “skipping” pages, unfortunately. A book is a wonderful friend, it can be “borrowed”, exchanged, bought… they are not expensive, but the value is
irreplaceable. It is a characteristic of all true values. They don’t cost much, but they give everything.

How many books have you written? As a refugee from a war zone unfortunately, I could not afford to print a personal book. I am represented in Anthologies all over the world.

And where can we find your books? In Anthologies around the world, if I am in
financial possibility, I will collect my collected works and publish the Collection at least before the end of my life.

Do you believe that our life, our destiny is written or we can change it? I think we are spiritual beings, whose task is to learn on earth. Part of it can change, it depends on us, our awareness and spiritual level. Fate can be corrected by good deeds, words, actions.

Religion is the cause of many wars – a lot of people say that. What do you think? Yes, it is the cause of many wars, we forget that we are children of the same God. My religion is mind and heart. No one has the right to “in the name of God” kills, kidnaps. My religion is the universal cosmic law of cause and effect. In history, we have all witnessed “extremely minded” believers, from whom I distance myself.

Money brings happiness? Money is neutral in itself. Necessarily needed in the material world. The second is the misuse of money, the desire for senseless enrichment and the like. I have as much as I need to live, which I achieved solely through my work. In this way, I ensured a peaceful old age, without expecting help from others. Anything beyond that, I don’t need, nor could it make me happy.

E-book or Hardcover book. What will be the future? What do you think about the year of technology? Are we lost ourselves inside the mobile phone, the computers… We live in the age of technology. They make our life easier in communication, I don’t see anything wrong with that. What I don’t like is the excessive use of cell phones and computers, it takes us away from the basic essence, family, friends, virtual reality is unfortunately more and more represented in all segments of society as a whole.

Environmental issues. Are the progress the technology and the humans are responsible for all this disaster? Of course, people’s irresponsibility leads directly to disaster. We pollute the environment, when the consequences occur, we wonder who is to blame for everything that happened to us. Us, no one else.

Why? We live in the age of technology. They make our life easier in communication, I don’t see anything wrong with that. What I don’t like is the excessive use of cell phones and computers, it takes us away from the basic essence, family, friends, virtual reality is unfortunately more and more represented in all segments of society as a whole.

A wish for 2023. To stop war, religious and national divisions.

Thank you so much
We wish you success and a creative year Eva Petropoulou Lianou
