The Nobel Committee International Academy of Ethics has been in existence for the last three years, and Dr. Maja Herman Sekulic, the iconic Serbian-US poet has been its Vice-President since its inception. The Academy has organized several national and international programmes, including Panel Discussions and brought out various publications for the ethical development of the human beings.
As President of the Academy, I propose the name of Dr. Maja Herman Sekulic for the prestigious Nobel Prize in Literature.
This recommendation has been done based on Dr. Maja’s extensive contribution to the world of Literature. She has authored 30 books and she has 35 prizes to her name and honoured as a Global Icon of Poetry, Luminary and multiple Ambassador of Literature, Culture and Good will, Ambassador of Roma, 1 of 35 Giants of Culture, 1 of 50 memorable women of Europe, and a recipient of International Award for Peace Nelson Mandela, to name just a few.
She is primarily a poet – her poems were translated in 27 languages. She is also a successful novelist translated in 5 languages, an accomplished essayist, a major literary translator and editor.
In her native Serbia, she is a recipient of the first Serbian Oscar for popularity, 2 highest awards by the Serbian Association of writers and honoured as the Style Icon of Serbia in 20th and 21st c. There were 2 academic conferences and compendium dedicated solely to her Literary Opus with a bibliography of over 350 units. Six books of her Selected works were recently published jointly by 2 major Serbian publishers.
In the USA, she is Princeton University Ph.D who taught at Princeton and Rutgers, and gave lectures at Harvard, Iowa, Columbia, NYU. She was editor of Night magazine and art consultant at Novo arts in New York. She is a member of the Pen American Center and American Academy of Poets, a Princeton University fellow, double Fulbright scholar etc. Most recently Maja Herman won awards for her contributions to the Tesla’s legacy – 2 by Nikola Tesla World and 2 by Nikola Tesla Science Foundation in the USA.
In Italy, she is also a multiple Laureate of such distinguished literary foundations as Citta di Galateo, Cygnus Aureus and Le Nove Muse for her poetry and excellence in career, and most recently her new novel “Nine Lives of Milena Barilli” was awarded the best foreign novel and had 3 editions in 2023-24.
In India, Maja Herman is also a recipient of the highest awards such as Wizard of Words by Aazaad Foundation , and as a unique Global Literary Icon, by Galaxy Foundation, as well as honoured as the multiple Ambassador of Literature, Culture, Peace and Good Will under Unesco auspicies. Most recently she was anointed the Vice President of the new Academy of Ethics based in India and presided over its international conference in Pune. She also won poetry awards in Tunisia, Turkey and Romania. She appeared also as a style icon in many world famous magazines (Elle, Vogue, Bazaar, Night etc.), was portrayed and photographed by many famous artists and photographers, and was proclaimed among the 100 Most Beautiful Women in the World as a Author and a Muse.
She was schooled and lived in England, France, Italy, USA, Germany and Thailand and is a world traveller. Dr Maja Herman (Maya Herman)shares her time now between New York and Belgrade.
In view of her extraordinary achievements, in the field of world literature, she is one of the top world class poets whose work shows sparks of nobility and excellence which marks high accomplishment. International Academy of Ethics, Chandigarh, proposes her name as a potential candidate for the highest award in the field of literature i.e. the Nobel Prize.
