I
There is a ray of light
Lit from a small village in Xiaoxiang
At that time she was still little
So young that she could only hide under the quilt
Lighting up pages of world classics with a flashlight
She did not know
That faint ray of light
Would one day illuminate the whole world

II
On her twelfth birthday, her world collapsed
Her mother suddenly went to heaven
Since then she woke up crying in dreams
Her pillow soaked over and over
She did not know
Those tears
Were the first lines of the soul’s autobiography
It was light and love
Leaving the first mark
Upon her life

Later she traveled a long road
From mountain village to Beijing
From hostess to writer
From Cinderella to international author
She thought she was seeking something
Yet she was always on the journey to find herself
To find that being —
Who is inherently radiant

When ancient Dongba pictographs come into her sight
The radiance of Panzi Samei, Goddess of Wisdom, flows toward her
The cultural lineage of Dongba civilisation calls to her soul
She hears echoes crossing a thousand years
Ancient scriptures speak of the great trust of civilisation
At that moment, Lanxin meets Samei
She knows she carries the mission to inherit Dongba culture
From Lanxin, she transforms into Lanxin Samei

Beneath the ancient fragrant trees of Lijiang
She studies stacks of Dongba ancient manuscripts
Five years
One thousand eight hundred days and nights
Friends ask her:
“In the bloom of your youth,
Is showing your beauty not enough?”
She smiles:
“Beauty is needed, but love matters more.
To become the embodiment of love and beauty
Is the innate mission of this life.”

May Day of 2019
Her day of labour
Began when she entrusted her soul to writing this book
She secluded herself to write
From dawn till dusk, tears rolled down her cheeks
Not tears of grief
But tears of compassion, brimming with spiritual joy
She heard cosmic spirits speak to her:
“Born for love,
Come for love,
Create and spread the wisdom of love.”
At that moment
She found her life’s mission

Is her soul’s autobiography
Every page
Holds the pains she has endured
Every line
Bears the tears she has shed
Every word
Is the light she has awakened to
She lays bare herself, opens her heart
Only to tell every suffering soul:
“May the pains I have endured
Never be yours to bear.
May the blessings I have found
Be within your reach.”

She says:
“A person has two births.
One is the birth of the flesh,
The other is the awakening of the soul.”
This book
Is a spiritual vessel
Carrying every soul weeping in the dark night
Past the nightmares of emotion
Past the shadows of family roots
Past the confusion of marriage
Past the loss of self
To the shore —
Where radiance endlessly abides

Dear friends
When you read this book
You are not merely reading words
You are reading the awakening chronicle of a soul
You are reading the radiance of light and love
You are reading the cipher of spiritual redemption
You are reading the route map of this spiritual vessel
And you
Are the soul this vessel comes to ferry
You are the one this beam of light shines upon
You are the one this book awakens

You Will Eventually Shine Bright
Not because you become perfect
But because you finally see —
You are light by nature
You are love by nature
You are
That unique,
Radiant self
On this phoenix-nirvana path
Comes a woman named Lanxin Samei
Standing apart from the mortal world, the radiant Goddess of Wisdom
You too, shall shine bright
