I MISS YOU DAD
I see him smiling through the stars
He seems so near though the stars are far
Sometimes I see him in the morning sun
With angels, I see him having fun
My Dad was my poet friend
Together we discussed poets to no end
Holding my hand , he would take me for a walk
About writers and bards we would talk
Homer and Virgil were sometimes our subject
I was in awe of his intellect
He would talk of Styx and the Thebes
Of Oedipus and the Achilles heel
He was a philosopher, a scholar and a critic too
He was my great banyan and in his shade I grew
He taught me to be upright and strong
He guided me about right and wrong
His love for me was immense
Seeing a frown on my forehead , he would grow tense
But one day inspite of my wails and cries
From his eternal sleep he did not rise
But I know that his blessings are with me
From eternity to eternity
O Dad! I wish someone could tell you
That your daughter is now a bard too.
