CHANGE by Dr Jernail S Aanand

Change restores our vitality
And gives fillip
To our creativity.

Had it not been so
Gods would have been pleased
To fix us in snow.

It needed five elements
Only earth and only sky
Do not make creation’s die.

Humours* control the nature of humanity
The melancholic, optimistic
Philosophical or angry.

Are we not victims of five sins**
That men deride
Lust, anger, greed, attachment and pride?

And to size off these maladic traits
We have mercy, kindness, forgiveness
And charity and love for humanity?

Such a variety of human experience
Looks for a change in  perspective
To make creative juices active

Frozen in your home,
And snowed in definite conditions
You turn a stone.

While you learn and grow
When perspectives unknown
Unfold before you.

*
Ben Jonson: talked of humours;
black bile (melancholic); yellow bile (angry); blood (sanguine, optimistic); phlegm (philosophical, passive.)

AUDIT by Jernail S Aanand

I was told to be afraid of gods.
They had the power
Not only to to see,
But also to see through

Like a small time thief
I used to play foul and fair
How much a dog worries
When we take off its hair?

Emboldened, I would start
Taking the wool off
And then I would see the dog bark
And gods hark!

They say I am free
Is it freedom  or slavery
My actions are under watch
And one cannot foresee

Eternal audit is in progress
Which gods finally adopt
Who can leave this earth
His head raised aloft?
