KIND TYRANNY OF DARKNESS by Jernail S Aanand

The day light is very charitable
It adds vision to  our eyes
Which we find subtracted
When the darkness takes over

As the day dawns, and earthly patches
Come to life,
We are happy to see
The dark oppression evaporate

Things which look so beautiful
Suddenly start giving chilling sensations
As soon as darkness covers beautiful valleys
Gurgling with clear water.

We are afraid of darkness,
Which makes the things uncertain
And unknown too,
Something which horrifies us.

Strange! We are afraid of physical darkness,
But love the metaphorical darkness
Which ‘holy’  and smart people spread
In order to frighten and extort.

Darkness has a kindly avatar too
When it provides a befitting background
Not only to the evil deeds
But also to the lamps of Diwali.
