The Eagle Fears No Heights

The Dongba scriptures tell
The eagle fears no high mountains
The steed fears no long roads
Fame, to the eagle
Is a burden bound to its wings
Hindering its soar

The true eagle
Never takes flight weighed down
It casts aside all earthly temptations
To rush toward the vast firmament
The eagle that spreads its wings to rise

Much like an aircraft taking off
Its ascent from the ground is the hardest part
Breaking through veil after veil of dark clouds
Passing through wave after wave of air resistance

Once it surmounts countless barriers
Rising above blue skies and white clouds
Auspicious clouds unfold
A scene of pure serenity and grace
So it is for the wanderer who is like an eagle
If you belong to the boundless world

To the lofty realm
Ride the wind ninety thousand miles upward
Roam across the land bathed in rosy glow
For — the eagle inherently belongs to the boundless sky
To soar on outstretched wings — is its way to meet the world
