Anwar Rahim: “Wake-up Call”

Επιμέλεια: Εύα Πετροπούλου Λιανού

Humanity is dead, lip service reigns
Hypocrisy peaks, empty words remain
Peace awards abound, yet none are true
Superficial masks, hiding me and you

Hunger and sickness, a painful sight
Shelters ignored, no one takes plight
Children suffer most, innocent and pure
Wars rage on no end seen, destruction is sure

Silence is golden, but justice is blind
Freedom’s a myth, for the marginalized mind
Voices are hushed, as oppression reigns
Hope is lost, in the darkness of pains

Broken promises, shattered dreams
Lies and deceit, it all seems
Trust is lost, as hearts do break
Love’s a luxury, for the heart’s sake

Fractured lives, shattered souls
Lost in the void, without goals
Searching for peace, but none is found
A world in chaos, spinning round

Empty words, hollow claims
A world in darkness, humans are to blame
The future’s bleak, the present’s cold
A wake-up call, for a world grown old

Death and destruction, a dismal fate
Peace lies dead, in a coffin state
Buried with ease, no mournful sigh
21 Gun Salute, a final goodbye
