Pankaj Buragohain: “Walk Slowly, Life”

Επιμέλεια: Εύα Πετροπούλου Λιανού

Walk slowly, Life,
there are debts the heart must pay,
old wounds that still await
the healing touch of day.

There are promises left behind,
and duties yet undone;
in racing toward tomorrow,
I lost what I had won.

Some hearts grew cold and distant,
some quietly slipped away;
there are hands I must reach for,
and tears I must turn to day.

Some bonds were born to shatter,
some faded as they grew;
yet every broken thread
still carries something true.

There are dreams that remain unfinished,
and paths I have not known;
a thousand tangled questions
still wait to be my own.

So walk slowly, Life,
let not your hurried feet
outrun the souls you love,
or make the whole world incomplete.

For when the final breath
falls silent in the night,
what mattered will not be
what I gained, but whom I made alright.

And yet this stubborn heart,
still chasing what cannot stay,
must learn what death has always known:
that nothing comes away.

Walk slowly, Life,
there is still some love to give,
some sorrow to forgive,
some duty to fulfil,
and some unfinished self
to teach how to live.
