Mount Kailash

The great flood swallowed the sunken homeland.
The last embers of Atlantis break free from towering surges,
Faring toward the spine of the snow realm — Mount Kailash.
Ice and snow entomb primeval half-remembered dreams.
The sacred mountain catches this faint glow surviving catastrophe.
Silent crags receive the hoary past of primordial ages.
Prayer flags revolve endlessly upon the eternal wind,

Chants drift across snow-capped peaks of millennia, echoing far and wide.
Sparks journey east, threading through ten thousand rivers and mountains,
Taking root in Huaxia, nurturing the grand literary vein of Pangu’s creation of heaven and earth.
Sparks journey south, crossing layered ridges of the Himalayas,
Bathing the subcontinent, blooming the radiant splendour of ancient civilisations.
Sparks journey west, treading the boundless Gobi wastes,

Landing by the twin rivers, where philosophies break forth amid turbid tides.
Sparks journey north, traversing endless barren wilderness,
Rushing to the banks of the Nile, forging the starry expanse of ancient Egypt.
Then they voyage across vast seas toward the sprawling European continent,
Kindling Crete, rousing the primal firelight of the Aegean Sea.
Countless civilisations radiate outward from this spark of the snow mountain.
Wind whips prayer flags, sacred chants endure without cease.
The sacred peak stands firm, watching in quiet vigil.
Memories predating the great flood circulate within every inch of earth.
