Poetess Yang Geum-Hee has published two collections of 2 poetry books. She was the first president of the Ieodo Literature Association, the editor-in-chief of the Jejuin News, and worked as a researcher at the Jeju Sea Grand Center and a specially appointed professor at Jeju International University. Currently, she is an editorial writer for the New Jeju Ilbo, a vice-president of the Jeju Regional Committee of the Korean PEN Center, an Executive of the Jeju Institute for Korean Unification, and an Executive of the Korean Association of Ethics. She has won six literary awards.
Temperature of love By Poetess Yang Geum-Hee
Even the insignificant grass roots,
It becomes a snail’s winter clothing.
Coming up onto the ground moistened by early winter rain
Let’s pull up the grass
Embracing each other with their bare bodies,
snail family overwintering In the snail’s nest.
Like laying down a grassroots heater,
The temperature of love is warm.
Avoid getting burned by the burning heat.
Let’s love like a snail’s body temperature each other’s warmth
Each other’s warmth,
becomes the warmest winter clothing.
Let’s have that kind of love
Comforting my heart,
I gently covered the grass roots.
사랑의 온도
하찮은 풀뿌리도
달팽이의 방한복이 된다
초겨울비에 촉촉해진 땅 위로 올라온
풀 뽑아 올리자
맨몸으로 서로를 품고
겨울을 나고 있는 달팽이 가족
달팽이 보금자리에
풀뿌리 온돌을 깔았는지
사랑의 온도 따스하다
뜨겁게 타올라
서로 데이느니
달팽이 체온처럼 사랑하자
서로의 온기가
가장 따뜻한 방한복 되는
그런 사랑을 하자
마음 다독이며
풀뿌리 살며시 덮어주었다
Christmas Cake By Poetess Yang Geum-Hee
A day when the whole world was covered in white snow,
delivered on foot on an icy road.
On top of Christmas whipped cream cake,
white snow piled up.
On top of a snow-like whipped cream cake,
five strawberries that look like Christmas hats,
It was embedded like a jewel as if it were the heart of the sender.
Wearing a red scarf,
a cute chocolate penguin,
wearing a red scarf and blue earmuffs,
spread its wings wide as if it was about to fly like an angel and deliver wishes.
The bell hangs from a green round wreath with a red ribbon.
It seems like a bell of blessing will ring that will reach the end of the universe.
On the footprints left on the snow by the person who gave the cake and left,
the sunset on Christmas Eve is colored with belated autumn leaves.
크리스마스 케이크
온 세상이 하얗게 눈 덮인 날
빙판길 걸어서 배달된
크리스마스 생크림 케이크에
하얀 눈 소복이 쌓였다.
눈 같은 생크림 케이크 위
크리스마스 모자 같은 딸기 다섯 알
보낸 이의 마음인 듯 보석처럼 박혔다
빨간 목도리를 두르고
파란색 귀막이를 한 귀여운 초콜릿 펭귄은
천사가 되어 소망을 전해주려 날아가려는지
날개를 활짝 펼쳤다
빨간 리본이 달린 초록색 둥근 리스에 매단 종에서는
우주 끝까지 닿을 축복의 종소리가 울려 퍼질 것도 같다
케이크를 주고 돌아가며 눈길 위에 남긴 발자국에
크리스마스 전야의 노을이 때늦은 단풍으로 물든다
